He returns from his two year mission to Leeds England on Thursday night. You can see his final post on his blog. He will be speaking in church at 9am on Sunday May 17th.<br />
I'm certain this is a bitter sweet moment for him as it is Wednesday morning in England and he is waking up to a transfer to the mission home where he will bid farewell to the Mission President & his wife and the missionaries that he's grown to love. He has made many many wonderful memories and he has met many many amazing people ... How grateful we are that he has had this opportunity. How grateful we are that he has been in the hollow of His hand. How grateful we are that he is coming home.<br />

As I contemplated with much thought and effort the last thing that I want to be written down so many great and wonderful experiences have some to mind but how can you summarize the miracles, mercy and love for god that you experience over 2 years? It must needs suffice to say a few words further than what I have already expressed before. </div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
I want to thank all of you, each one of you for your support, prayers and continued love during this wonderful season of my life and as it comes to a close I can look back on it with fondness and see that I did my best, I gave it my all. All my heart, might, mind and strength. The only way I was able to do this was because of you guys :)</div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
Thank you for continuing to help me and strengthen me into becoming the man that God wants me to be. I feel that I have got to know my Father in Heaven more, and even though I do not know him perfectly I am grateful to know Him better than I did before. </div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
I know that the Atonement is a true power to all who utilize it to helping them make more of themselves through the love and power of Christ, more than they could do by themselves. </div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
I thank my Father daily for the special people that I have met and the wonderful experiences that have made me grow into who I am now. The good and the bad are both as necessary as ying and yang because one is not complete without the other. We cannot measure joy or know joy if we never experience the trials.</div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
I know that God answers prayers. The earnest and sincere seeker of righteousness and truth will always have that assurance that what they ask for, if it be right and in the name of Christ, it can and will be theirs according to their faith. </div>
<div class="p1">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
I am thankful for all of these wonderful things that I have learnt and the many things that I continue to learn and I look forward to the day when I will see my Savior and can thank him for all that he has done for me :)</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
I love my mission.</div>
<div class="p1">
I love my family.</div>

I love God and Jesus Christ.</div>

So here's hoping that you have had a great week just as much as I have and I am thankful to God for the blessings that he has given and continues to pour out on His children.<br />
<br />
So to put it simply, this week was full of some great times and full of some great joys!<br />
<br />
On Monday we went to the MetroCenter in Gateshead to do a little shopping and it was good fun. The place is massive!<br />
<br />
On Tuesday we had a meeting with President Pilkington at our District Meeting and it was a good time to be able to have him give us some great advice. We discussed the importance of diligence in all aspects of missionary work and what we can do to encourage and grow in our diligence. After the meeting I was on exchange with Elder Jardine and we had a blast! We went and taught one of our investigators and they talked about how to take care of horses and let the gospel into your life as well. That night we had a great talk and got to know each other a lot better. I guess needless to say the biggest thing that I had learned was that God works in very mysterious ways.<br />
<br />
<div class="p1">
On Wednesday the biggest thing was the funeral for one of our investigators. It was a very uplifting service (as far as funerals can go) and many people were very touched by the words that were shared. It is sad to see him go but we know that he is in a better place now :) Later in the day we had a good time discussing the gospel with his family members and friends that met at his home later in the afternoon. </div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
On Thursday we helped some wonderful members with their horses and had some good fun with them. Elder Jardine was in his element there and it was great to see him happy. It was really good to also have a great talk with the members about missionary work and how we can all participate in our own individual way with it.</div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
On Friday we had the special mission meeting in Leeds where we found out that we are going to be 1 of only 86 missions in the world that will have the opportunity to be a "test mission" for iPads and to see how they help the work. We are going to be the ones that help this work go forward in the technological age. The biggest thing that stood out to me that day is that I feel very privileged and blessed to be in my mission at this time under the direction of President Pilkington. He is a great man and I know he is called by God. </div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
On Saturday we had a full day of finding and boy! it was a pretty good day. We went out to a little village by the coastline and it was very beautiful to see the wodnerful sandy beaches. We met a few really nice people but alas did not meet anyone that desired to hear the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the evening we had tea with a member and her husband and played a fun board game after with them. It was a great time to get to know them both, especially after she admitted to us that she is from Edmonton . </div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
On Sunday we had a great time at the Carlins and watching the Mountain of the Lord dvd. It was a great time to be able to explain and expand our knowledge of the restoration and feel the spirit empower us as we watched the film. In the evening we had a great missionary meeting to discuss the developments of the work in the branch and how we can help to move it forward. </div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
Well thats my week!</div>
<div class="p1">
Staying focused and working hard!!!</div>
<div class="p1">
Leave it all in the field!</div>
<div class="p1">
Have a great week!</div>
<div class="p1">
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE WONDERFUL WOMEN IN MY LIFE! :D</div>
<div class="p2">

<div class="p1">

Speak, He is listening<span style="font-family: "helvetica"; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">Hello everybody!</span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
So this week was good!</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
I guess the biggest thing that I learned this week was how much God truly loves all of his children no matter what they do or how they struggle, he still loves them. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
I felt the spirit many a time this week testify to me that the people I met were important and that God knows them and what they need.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
God knows you and he loves you and will always be there for you, I know it and you can too.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
Pray, He is there.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
Speak, He is listening.</div>

So this is my week!</span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br />
<div>
On Monday we went to Alnwick castle which was super cool! Not enought time to truly enjoy it thoroughly but enough time to say I was there and to see that majesty of the building. Its super huge and super old and super awesome! I saw where they filmed some parts of Harry Potter and they had a gift shop with some of the Potter stuff but it was daylight robbery for most of it. </div>
<div>
Then in the evening we helped Elder M pack again because he was getting moved AGAIN to the south of the mission. They split our trio :(</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Tuesday I had a meeting in Billingham and had to be there for 9:00 so I was up SUPER early to catch a bus to New Castle and then a train to Billingham. It has taken me quite a while to recover from the early morning but I think I am almost there. In the evening we were blessed to have tea and spend some time with the Turnbull family. Its pretty cool how they got their name. Long story short, a bull was going to run over the king and one of their ancestors jumped and turned it by the horns to move it out of the way of the king. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Wednesday we just worked. Simply just got up and were so tired still from the early morning the day before that we slept for lunch and then worked the rest of the day. In the evening we were blessed to spend some great times with the Broadfoot family and just have some great laughs about the silly things that happen in life. Mostly silly things that I have done or that have happened to me. If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Thursday we had DDM in New Castle and really enjoyed the district's participation and acceptance of what has recently been given down through the lines. Unfortunatly there was not enought time to get them everything so this week we are having a stick pull, tug of war and arm wrestle competition! Gotta love that doctrine behind it! hahaha. <span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">In the evening we were blessed to have some time and share a meal with the Redpaths and after the meal Brother Redpath took us to a really nice beach nearby. It was super beautiful and boy! The memories and fun thoughts that went into my head nearly exploded it! haha..</span></div>
<div>
Funniest thing to happen to me that day, I accidentally stuck my hand in some bird poop!!!! GROSS!!!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Friday we finally got out of our suits for service! Its a jugle out there! <span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Twas a great day friday! And boy I was taken aback when my companion started to tickle them ivories! In the morning we had a great time planning and then we went to the school where one of the members works and showed the music teacher the talented fingers of my companion! MAN IS HE EVER GOOD! (my guess is that he will be famous one day lol) </span><span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">After that the music teacher had mentioned that possibly a recital in the near future might be good to invite the community to. </span><span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">After that we did 2x load of service for a bit (meaning it was at two members homes) and man! I got cuts all over my legs from them bramble bushes! hahahha - silly idea to wear shorts huh? (I only realized I had cuts on the legs in my shower the next day when the soap got in them! I was dancing like I was on burning coals! haha) </span><span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">In the evening we were treated to a very nice curry :) That makes me happy :)</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Saturday included painting, HP boy time and sending a friend off. <span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">So it seemed like everybody was wanting our help the same week so we sacrificed a few of the personal hours that we would have for time to ourselves (meals) to help out some members with their needs. One was planned and the other just an emergency.</span></div>
<div>
Saturday morning we helped this old man in the branch paint his new place that he is moving into. As we did that he told us about the war and the military that he was in and he is quite funny haha A good guy and I seriously respect him for what he sacrificed as he was there. <span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">In the evening we went and shovelled horse poop! hahahahahha HP BOY IS BACK! </span></div>
<div>
We just had a great time with those wonderful creatures (the horses, not the poop) and had a great time taking some of the load of the members backs. In the evening we also found out that they needed us to dig a hole in emergency for one of their pet cats that had died. So Elder Young and I got to work and just did the best we could with all things in mind. I thought I hit a water pipe with the pitch fork but just some splashed inside of it. <span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Anyways, it was a good time to help our fellow travellers on this road of life.</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Sunday was church and then it was tea with a great family in the ward. We had a great time of laughs and just talking about life in general. I feel very privileged to be here and know these great people. The husband then played some guitar with me and taught me a new song to serenade people around the camp fire. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I love my mission</div>
<div>
Hope you have a good week</div>

Daylight is burning quick! I am loving the mission though and lets just say that we are working super hard now. I have really enjoyed this past week and look forward to the coming days ahead!<br />
<br />
So now I am in a tripanionship with Elder Young (from Buffalo NY and related to Brigham Young but some weird relation lol) and my other companion is Elder Muhlmann (from Frankfurt Germany and he is a really funny guy). We are enjoying the great times that we are having right now and look forward to the great times ahead.<br />
<br />
Transfer day I was stuck in Sunderland to work for the day but I had a great time with my mission great-great grandson. His name is Elder Tuala and he is a born in the Philippines but grew up in Belgium. He is also about 5 feet tall. So it was a great time with him working one of my previous areas. It was pretty good because the area that we were assigned to labour for the day included good old Mavis Spence's house! So we went in and got a drink and just read some scriptures with her as we caught up on the last 15 months of my life since I had been there. She is a wonderful lady and gave me her secret recipe for her bannaffi pie! BOOYAH! Gonna get my sweet tooth happy again lol. Also had a great time talking to literally everyone we saw on the street that we ran into this dance crew from Durban, South Africa that I challenged them to a singing competition. I sang I am a Child of God and they sang some zulu music for me … they won! lol Four against one though so I held my own.<br />
<br />
The rest of the evening was spent with my companions getting to know them a little on our three hour transport home. The miracle of the day, one of them had their wallet nearly stolen but the bus driver booted the thief off the bus and got the wallet back. A great start to whats going to be an awesome transfer!!!<br />
<br />
Thursday we had a mission meeting in Newcastle in which we discussed diligence. Simply my thoughts are the same as President Brigham Young "I will not ask the Lord something that I am not willing to do myself". We as the children of God are accountable for our works and labours here in this mortal existence and if we desire the blessings we must be ready to sacrifice and work for them! Then the rest of the day was spent knocking on doors and boy we are having a great time here! So weird working in a tripanionship and even though I have had three before this one I can just seem to quite work out how to work it … three big guys at someones door is only slightly intimidating lol.<br />
<br />
Friday was spent knocking on doors to locate people that have either moved or their whereabouts has been lost from the church. All I'm going to say is home teaching and visiting teaching is a must for the work of God to move forward. He will not bless sue to find his children if we are not already taking care of the ones that we have currently. We must BE brothers and sisters to those people and remember our divine origin so that we may help others to remember theirs. Brother and Sister is merely a title, it is a compliment and a way for us to recognize who we are and who the people around us.<br />
<br />
Saturday was another mission meeting in which I conducted it. It was really nice that Elder Young plays the piano (he's a professional concert pianist and has played all over the world including Austria and China) and so to have him in the district is a great blessing to keep us on key lol. They meeting went well. Although I am currently in a district with a bunch of jokesters!<br />
<br />
After the meeting we went and knocked some more doors and found some AUFs that we were looking for. In the evening we traveled to Sunderland to help set up for their choir production and we were very privileged to stay and feel of the spirit so strongly. Several people were moved to tears and the spirit could have been cut with a knife it was so thick! It was also a really great time to see some more people of sunderland ward and feel the warm welcome back :) Now I know and feel that I am not a simple missionary in the passage of time but one that made a difference. I have completed that part of my life and a new page has turned.<br />
<br />
Sunday was a great day full of testimonies and organization. I really enjoy keeping on top of things and planning it all out so that I can know where I am going to be in the coming days. After Sunday dinner with the Carlin family I was privileged to receive a hair cut from David as we visited with him and his family. I feel as light a feather now lol<br />
<br />
Well today we are going INSIDE Alnwick castle so I must run to get the bus.<br />
Hope you have a great week<br />
Love<br />

<br />
Its so funny that you mention watching "parts" of conference. That is exactly what we did. LOL The connection kept dropping in and out and I never got to see the Sunday night sessions.<br />
<br />
So this week was good! We enjoyed being together and working together this week and have definitely enjoyed serving with each other. My companion and I are finished serving together now. The Lord has seen fit to call him to a new area where people need him and I will stay here. He will be going to Wharf Valley and as for me I will be getting not just one but two new companions! I am really excited for this! It will be my last transfer, we will work hard, play hard and sleep harder lol<br />
<br />
So this past week was really quite enjoyable. The entirety of our Monday was spent with a member of the ward and he showed us a bunch of history of the area. We went to Hadrians Wall, Durham Cathedral and the Caussey Arch. It was all really cool and at the end of the day we had learned so much about the history of this wonderful land that we were able to definitely feel accomplished for the day.<br />
<br />
Then the next couple of days both my companion and I were ill and had to stay in the flat for the most part of the time. I took this opportunity to ponder and read the scriptures if I was not tired enough to sleep anymore and I enjoyed feeling the spirit and revelation flow down from heaven. I had a wonderful experience in which I knew that God knew me as an individual and I was cared for. I love my Father in Heaven and know that He answers the earnest prayers of His children.<br />
<br />
When we finally had rested enough to recover we spent the most part of our time finding and having lessons with people that we had grown close to over the time that we have been here. It was great to see their smiles and to know that through the grace of God we had made a small impact in someones life. I love this wonderful work and get to know that this its he most important work on the face of the earth. The work of building the kingdom of God and helping his children reconnect with Him.<br />
<br />
The weekend was momentous occasion and a wonderful time full of reassurance and revelation. I enjoyed all the talks ranging from family and family responsibilities to mainly the Atonement and the wonderful miracles that were preformed upon earth many years ago. This knowledge has changed my life for the better and has truly made me such a happier person. I look forward to each day that I have to tell people the wonderful news that because of Christ, everything is possible.<br />
<br />
I had many great and wonderful experiences this week that it would take me a much longer time to explain but know this … God love His children and that is a fact.<br />
<br />
I hope and pray that you all have a fantastic week and can see the hand of the Lord in your daily life. Please keep missionary work in your prayers because ALL of God's children will benefit from this wonderful message … the message of Jesus Christ.<br />

So I just wanted to tell you what is going through my mind right now. I just want to thank all the wonderful people that have supported me whilst I have been out here serving the Lord and say that I will forever be eternally grateful to each one of you as I look at who I was and who I am now. It is because of you that I have been able to grow into the man that I am today and I thank God for the blessing of having each one of you in my life.<br />
<br />
I am grateful to all the men and women in my life that have taught me to have integrity and stand alone even when you are afraid to. I am grateful to those who have taught me loyalty when faced with hard decisions. I am thankful to those who have taught me compassion even though sometimes you may feel that someone is undeserving of it. I am thankful for those who have taught with God, I CAN DO HARD THINGS! I am thankful to my siblings who have taught me to love purely and to enjoy the special times and smile often! I am thankful to those who have believed in me, even when I did not believe in myself. I am thankful to those who have never given up on me even when I thought the war was lost. I am thankful to those that have taught me to express myself honestly with others and have courage in my thoughts, desires and passions. I am thankful to those who have taught me to work hard, play hard and laugh harder. Needless to say that the list can go on for eternity, but if you have been a part of my life in any way, from the bottom of my heart I thank you and wish all of the blessings of God to be upon you and your families.<br />
<br />
God is good and because he is good we can be changed. I feel I have changed and that now I know who God is and who I am in his plan. We are all brothers and sisters and if we look at one another in that way and simply be kind to our fellow travellers in this mortal existence, then the world will be changed and be a better place because YOU were in it.<br />
<br />
I hope and pray that you have a wonderful week!<br />
Love<br />

Sorry for the quick email, there was a lot of mission things that I had to sort out but I will let you know that I am happy and doing well.<br />
<br />
Here are the things that I learned this week<br />
God is good and protects His children<br />
God loves us, imperfections mistakes and all.<br />
He knows what we go through and is willing to help us if we simply ask him.<br />
As it was a commandment and still is in place to "love one another", we must also love ourselves. Took me 21 years to learn it to the point I am at now but I look forward to learning day after day about it.<br />
God sends us to touch the lives of people for special reasons and his will always is done.<br />
We must take care of those we home teach and visit teach so that the work of God will continue to move forward.<br />
Have a great week!<br />
Love<br />

<br />
So life is great here on the mission and I am definitely learning loads. I can feel myself change daily and I am grateful for this chance that I have to serve the children of God.<br />
<br />
This past week was simply a really great time. I thoroughly enjoyed each day and the opportunities that I had to talk to so many different people.<br />
<br />
So this past week was just a really good time for me to sit back and to listen to what the Lord had in store for me and those people around me. I went on some exchanges this week and it was really great to understand the needs of some of God's children and see how the gospel could bless their lives. We talked to this one couple this past week and we were quite grateful to see the husband open up and see the need for baptism in his lift to start new. I have seen on my mission the wonderful chance that baptism is so that people can feel clean and whole from the mistakes that they have made in the past and then when they enter they are overjoyed to feel God's love more abundantly. God's plan is perfect and he has a way for us to return to him in faith and peace and joy.<br />
<br />
Then another person this week that we contacted showed me how to truly let the atonement play its part in covering all sin and in letting the past remain the past and learning from it. This wonderful person taught me that no matter what we go through, if we simply let God in, he will make up for all the things that life throws at us and will give us greater peace, understanding and knowledge from our experiences.<br />
<br />
Then we had a wonderful discussion with this one couple and they were so great in helping us understand peace and tranquility. We read many scriptures with them about the comforts that we can have through the atonement and then I realized that when the Lord says to be comforted that it is a commandment to let His peace enter into our lives.<br />
<br />
Well I just want to say that I love you all and know that God exists and that all will be well if we are simply loyal to the Lord and trust in his eternal plan and purposes.<br />
Love<br />
Elder Dotschkat<br />

So I haven't much time because I was sorting out some stuff for flights home and everything but lets just say that all is well in Zion and that I'm happy :)<br />
Life is great here on my mission right now! I am loving everything about it! Especially the new people that I get to meet during my travels :) So this past week I have been all the way up in Alnwick on exchange and had some crazy fun driving again! It was crazy because I have not drove in nearly a year! But I did it and we are alive! So this past Monday though was seriously one of the best Mondays on my mission because I got a sweet thing to bring home with me! Someone gave me a guitar! Its got a few bumps and scratches but that just reminds me of how the mission is. You get a few bumps and scratches over time but if you tune yourself in (to the will of God) and take on some new strings (Christ like attributes) and not forget your purpose (to help other people enjoy what you have to share with the world) then you will be that much more valuable at the end of the day. You will look like an antique (not old, just well used and mature) and you will feel like a million bucks! So on Monday D, the partner of a member in the ward, took the day off work to hang out with us! By the end of the day I got a 100 pound guitar case for 35 pounds so I am pretty pumped about that!<br />
<br />
The next two days I spent in Alnwick enjoying the North-East England countryside and the nice people that live there. I had some fun driving and even more fun talking to the great people about the history of the place. At the end of the week, I returned to Ashington with Elder Dickson and we worked ourselves to the bone! To the point that I was dizzy from working so hard! It was great because we saw success! We are now teaching a great young couple and an elderly widow about the gospel. The young couple has got a seven month old daughter who is adorable and a bundle of fun and the elderly lady just loves to chat and is scheduled for April 11th for baptism!<br />
<br />
So this week all in all was great and the biggest thing that I learned was simply if we do the Lord's work and if we trust him that he will sort everything else out for us.<br />
<br />
Last night I and a fantastic chance to Skype my wonderful family :) I truly do love them and would do anything to see them happy :) Funny thing! The cat ended our phone call! Talk to my mum about it if you wanna know more!<br />
<br />
Well I must run because my time is gone and I just want to say that I love you and that you are in my prayers!<br />
Have a great week everybody!<br />
See you soon!<br />

<br />
So this week was another week of good progress and great growth! I am thankful to note that I am still alive and the weather is warming up! Also I cannot believe how fast the time seems to be going!!!! WHERE IS MY LIFE RUNNING TO? Anyways, so this past Monday was another resting P-day and it was really good to work out and to rest a while. In the evening we went and saw a brother that races motorcycles and has a son in the military. Funniest thing for an umbrella holder, a used tank shell casing! I will get a picture soon lol<br />
<br />
Tuesday we had a great day! It started off pretty great as well because the day before a brother in the ward phoned us saying that he found a guitar in his house and asked if I wanted it. So of course as you do, you say yes! And I was thinking that he wanted to sell it to me but now its proven that he just wanted to give it to me for FREE! Pretty sweet price I must say and life is looking up from here! It needs a little TLC but hey, ITS A FREE GUITAR! I won't complain lol. So the entire Tuesday was spent going to people's houses and knocking to offer service with summer coming up and people needing their yard work done :) Sadly no takers but we just had a great day of laughter and just great memories. Elder D and I feel like brothers now and I look forward to traveling to South Africa one day :)<br />
<br />
Wednesday was great as well because the members here once again took care of me. I have recently ripped the stitching out of my crotch on my trousers on three different sets and the lovely sister offered to mend them. Needless to say, my answer was yes and I really appreciated her offer. I just simply don' thane the spare time to sew. Anyways, Wednesday's day of work was a lot like Tuesday just in a different place and it was a place that we will return to because we enjoyed the people there.<br />
<br />
Thursday I had a meeting in Newcastle and it was great to receive some great revelation and to know the exact direction that the Lord would desire to take me in!<br />
<br />
Gah!!! I'M OUTTA TIME!<br />
<br />
Well lets just say that I am happy, healthier and having a great time!<br />
Will fill you in more next week.<br />
Love Elder Dotschkat<br />
<br />funmum101http://www.blogger.com/profile/09358951011252721786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7232492289856030602.post-16362934203036267942015-03-02T14:02:00.000-07:002016-01-05T23:38:34.975-07:00Car trouble won't get us downHello Everyone!<br />
<br />
So this week has been one of learning and definitely one of hopeful progress into refining myself into who God wants me to be.<br />
<br />
I'm at a loss of where to start with my explanation. Lets just start at the beginning of the week I guess ... thats whats only logical lol. So to remind everyone, last Monday was transfer calls and Elder Dickson and I are both staying together in Ashington for another six weeks. Then Tuesday was P-day and was a great preparation day. Elder Dickson slept whilst I worked out and listened to talks by general authorities. In the evening we saw Tony and had a great time just once more discussing the gospel and all of the blessings of living the gospel joyfully. We are now currently re-teaching him everything so that we can help him with his next step which is the priesthood.<br />
<br />
Wednesday was super crazy but a great day full of revelation and what I believe to be the hand of Heavenly Father. So it was transfer and I was meant to go to the transfer meeting in Leeds and go on the bus but one thing and another (me first getting dog poo on my shoe and then on my suit!) happened and I ended up issuing the transfer bus and traveled down with another senior couple even though I told people not to leave without me ... note to self, when you ask something to be done, make sure you get a response! So anyways, the drive down was phenomenal time full of revelation, encouragement, answers and the spirit. I have had a few questions lately for things in my life and as we drove I confided in the senior couple my hopes, ambitions, dreams, desires, fears and plans for my mission and what I got to get done after it. We then discussed the ambitions and goals that I have and how they are achievable and definitely will make me stretch into becoming who God wants me to be. So as we were driving we ended up having car trouble and had to wait to get road side assistance. During that time, the couple told me of their history and why they were so happy. They gave the advice to immediately plan for a senior mission later in life and to work for everything that I desire. They proceeded to tell me of their life experiences and what they learned about themselves as they were going through life. AS we discussed this and many other things we deduced that a few important elements in learning from the trials of life are that:<br />
1. God will NEVER give you more than you can handle and he will always provide a way to overcome the obstacles of life (1 Ne 3:7)<br />
2. To always take a step back and to look at the bigger picture so that you can make educated decision based upon the needs of you and your family.<br />
3. To always trust that the Lord knows best and that if he asked you to do something that it will always be for your benefit.<br />
<br />
So then after nearly 90 minutes of waiting for assistance to come and save us from the roadside and the man actually giving us assistance, we got back into the car and headed on our trip again. WE FINALLY MADE IT TO LEEDS - WHEW! but the meeting was finished hahahahahahaha. At least we made it there and luckily we called people to tell them of our situation. Anyways, we stretched our legs for a bit and then we returned up the road to march north again.<br />
<br />
Thursday was my birthday. Thank you to all those people who made it such a special day for me :) It was truly appreciated. The biggest lesson I learned that day was first - distance is better than resistance and second, obedience is better than sacrifice. In the evening we spent some time with a wonderful family and we just had a great time of fun and laughter there. The father of the house has offered to take a day off work and to take me and Elder D to a guitar shop. COOL!<br />
<br />
Friday was good we went to an area that we normally don't go to and we went finding all day. Man that was heavy! I found a few nice shops and apparently the best fish and chips shop is somewhere around there .. definitely returning to that spot!<br />
<br />
Saturday we went finding all day again and went out by the sea. MAN WAS IT COLD! We saw a pretty cool statue and thought that it was some unfortunate couple that got stuck out in the sea and I was laughing so hard and then Elder Dickson told me that it was statue and boy I felt silly!<br />
<br />
Sunday was a great day. We had church and Peter passed the sacrament for the first time. It was such a wonderful moment on my mission to see a person progress to their Father in Heaven so much more. I know that this is the work of God an that he will always be there to help us:)<br />
<br />
Well I must run! Once again, thank you for all the birthday wishes. Love you all!<br />
Have a good one!<br />

This week was great!<br />
<br />
Monday was Party P-day! We went to Newcastle to watch the Superbowl. It was super fun and makes me look forward to playing sports again soon :)<br />
<br />
Tuesday we worked HARD! We went finding all day and had some great fun doing it! The greatest person we met us ... actually I can't remember because we met a lot of really great people. They all come from miners (Ashington was the biggest mining village in the world at one point) and so they have a rich history of hard work and labour.<br />
<br />
Wednesday was zone conference/road trip to Leeds. At zone conference we had a great time listening to the speakers and watching Meet the Mormons. Phenomenal video and I would recommend it to anyone - religious or not! It was such a great time and I am thankful for such an uplifting message. Then President Pilkington talked about how we mustn't lose our nerve or blink, we must keep our eyes focussed on our goals! So that was really great.<br />
<br />
Thursday morning was spent in Newcastle and I got some great news about my body health. In the evening we went to the BOM class with Tony and Peter and it was a great time to listen to the senior missionaries teach us about the BOM.<br />
<br />
Friday was great because I had a miracle experience. We were on the bus ride home and the spirit told me to talk to this one man. I then talked to him and gave him a L2 pamphlet with our number and left it at that. Later in the evening we received a call from this lady who was his sister telling us that she had been praying to God for a sign or for help that she wants to meet us!!! So that was really great.<br />
<br />
Saturday was a wonderful day because we were able to see our Brother Tony get baptized.<br />
<br />
Sunday we learned about having an attitude of gratitude and how it helps us be content with what we have rather than who we are.<br />
<br />
Yesterday was the calls and Elder Dickson and I are staying together another six weeks.<br />
<br />
Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Happy birthday to all my family and friends that have happened in the past few months/weeks. I'm sorry if I hadn't said it earlier, so many of you and I have a terrible memory for it but HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I will definitely make sure that Thursday is special. We are actually really busy Thursday so I will definitely enjoy it :) I'm looking forward to having tea with some members.<br />

So we had a fantastic week of learning how to truly rely and pray with real intent for the spirit to be with us. Also with how being bold will not only bless your life but the lives of others :) I know that God answers prayers and I also realize and understand what real intent means. It means giving everything to God, your thoughts, your desires, the very fibre of your being and then trusting that he will answer in his own way and in his own time. Then we must be willing and ready to submit to the will of the Lord to trust that he knows best and that his miracles and purposes will come to pass.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This past week's miracles were with two of our "eternigators". Simply we were bold and lovingly explained the reason why they needed to and how we can help them repent and get answers from God.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first investigator named T has been scheduled multiple times by missionaries in the past but has never reached his date. He always thought very reply about the gospel and missed the surface understanding. Multiple times he would have questions and concerns arise and we didn't brush them under the carpet but we either responded "we don't know right now but how about you give us some time and study it yourself and the next time we meet we can talk about it" or it was something like a surface concern that had something underneath it we would simply respond and make him think by saying "does this matter in the grand scheme of things and to your salvation?" Many times he had questions about Chinese rumours of church history and we had to make him realize that all the prophets and apostles are men and when they make mistakes or bad judgements, it is because they make the mistakes of men (Book of Mormon title page). This church is perfect ran by imperfect people and we must help our investigators see that church is a "sanctuary for sinners" not a "spa for saints"</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So multiple times he would have concerns come up that we were scabs above the original wound, they were simply a covering over top of fissure within our should and we would patiently and with love try our best to dig deep into the heart and find what their real concern was. Then we helped him realize that he has already received the answer by the spirit working with him to come to church, to read, to study, and ponder and pray.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Sometimes as missionaries we just have a hope that people get the classic answers that come out of the scriptures so then we can say "you see now, we are right because it is in the scriptures", but we must truly be in tune with the spirit and remember that God will give the answers to our people in a way that they will recognize and that if we humble ourselves we can be a tool in his hands</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Miracles truly happen if we are willing to sacrifice for them and have faith that God will help us. We were then able to see miracles because we have the power and moral authority to call down the hosts of heaven to help us out and finally, his concerns were resolved and he said "I believe". Brother T is being baptized this Saturday February 21st and and taking his first step on his path to return to his father. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR FRIENDS CAN TOO! Anyone who you desire to come to Christ can and will, if you will be obedient and put yourself as a tool in the Lord's hands</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
D&C 100:1-8</div>
<div>
1 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you, my friends [insert your names here], your families are well; they are in mine hands, and I will do with them as seemeth me good; for in me there is all power.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
2 Therefore, follow me, and listen to the counsel which i give unto you</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
3 Behold, and lo, I have much people in this place, in the regions round about; and an effectual door shall be opened in the regions round about in this [prepared] land.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
4. Therefore, I, the Lord, have suffered you to come unto this place; for thus it was expedient in me or the salvation of souls.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
5 Therefore, verily I say unto you, lift up your voices unto this people; speak the thoughts that I shall put into your hearts, and you shall not be confounded before men;</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
6 For it shall be given you in the very hour, yea, in the very moment, what ye shall say.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
7 But a commandment I give unto you, that ye shall declare whatsoever thing ye declare in my name, in solemnity of heart, in the spirit of meekness, in all things.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
8 And I give unto you this promise, that inasmuch as ye do this the Holy Ghost shall be shed forth in bearing record unto all things whatsoever ye shall say.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We repeated his with another investigator of our last night (Sunday February 15) and for months he has refused to pray. He simply would say that he couldn't force it but that it must come from him. We then also used our resources of the pamphlets and showed him how he was right that prayer must come from the heart and he humbled himself and prayed. It was a marvellous experience in which we knew that he was taking to his father.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Many times in our lives we may be downtrodden or discouraged but I have faith, and I would dare to say knowledge, God as my witness, that if we work just a little harder and take it day by day at a time in our missions will be a wonderful experience where we will be able to see miracles and the mercy of God in our lives. We will feel his love and be able to help others feel his love as well. If we are simply obedient, willing to humble ourselves to obtain the spirit, let go of our fears and trust that God's will eventually will come to pass, we will have the moral authority and the rights to call down the angels and the miracles of heaven.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
All it takes to have miracles in your heart and your faith. Ether 12:6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.</div>

Sincerely,</div>

Elder Dotschkat!<br />
<br />
So we've had a pretty good week, not much earth shattering things happened but some simple sweet things helped us out through the week.<br />
<br />
So Monday we spent the day in Newcastle and it was great fun going to all the suit shops and looking at them! This one shop we went to though I nearly swallowed my tongue. There were suits that were like $5000!! CRAZY! (good suits though hahaha)<br />
<br />
Tuesday was pretty good. We were just running around trying to get a lot done in the little time that we had. I have really been trying to push myself to work hard and leave everything in the field. I want to be able to look at my mission and say that I was a servant of the Lord for the two years and I did my best to serve him.<br />
<br />
Wednesday was pretty good. We spent most of the day in Newcastle for a doctor appointment for Elder Dickson and great news ... he's ok! (I thought he was be he desired a second opinion lol) In the evening we just had a great time seeing Brother Peter Conn again and letting him know that the Lord loves him. He is such a humble man and is truly a worthy son of God. We watched the Mountain of the Lord DVD with him and talked about his next steps towards our Heavenly Father.<br />
<br />
Thursday was good. We went finding all day and had a great time! We saw some deer too. Friday was planning day and we had a great time talking about all the important people that we are working with. Highlight of the day was the tea appointment with a RM and his new wife :) We had some great laughs and made great memories there. Then the weekend was good. I had to give a talk again on Sunday (they must like the sounds of my voice). I look forward to always teaching people what I have learned and share it with them :)<br />
<br />
Well I must go I can't seem to find why time is going so quick but hey ... just do your best while it is the day.<br />
Have a great week everyone.<br />
Love you all!<br />
Elder Dotschkat<br />
<br />
PS - the hymn that inspired me this week was How Firm a Foundation #85funmum101http://www.blogger.com/profile/09358951011252721786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7232492289856030602.post-85937604010479320042015-02-02T20:58:00.000-07:002016-01-05T23:39:47.878-07:00Farewell sweet Sister CarlinHello Everybody<br />
<br />
Well this week was definitely one where I think that I have learned to rely on the Lord for my support and for refining who I am into who I can be and to fulfill the desires that I have for those people that I love. It has also been a week that could have been fairly emotional but I have felt the comfort and reassurance of the Holy Ghost in my life :) I thank my Savior and my Heavenly Father for the "Other Comforter" - see St. John 14:14-18.<br />
<br />
So this past Monday we once again just had a relaxing P-day ... didn't do much. Just went home and wrote letters and slept and read scriptures :) Just took some time for our bodies to recuperate. Elder Dickson's favourite scripture is Mosiah 4:27<br />
27 And see that all things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order.<br />
<br />
So as you can tell, he loves to rest, take life at an easy pace and then get the work done with energy to spare ...sometimes our work ethics butt heads cause I like to work hard and play harder leaving everything on the field. He is teaching me how to relax though!<br />
<br />
Tuesday we had some great teaching appointments all day that we explained who we are and what we stand for. It was funny because we had one of our 80 year old male investigators give us a bunch of situations to react to and teach him and it was hilarious to see him act so funny. That truly made my day!<br />
<br />
Wednesday was a shock to the system by the end of the day. We had a great day Wednesday we made a list of people that the district wanted to pray for and to keep in mind during our fasts this Sunday and it was great to see everyone rally around and support one another. I know that if we do our part that the Lord will bless us in abundance through our obedience to his commandments and his will. So in the evening we had a pretty big shock. This past Christmas we were very blessed to spend quality time with a wonderful family and we found out that this past Wednesday Heavenly Father called this wonderful daughter home. Sister Gladys Carlin was a truly wonderful lady who was determined to serve God and His children, she was an inspiration to many and a true friend to all who met her. You will truly be missed but always remembered in our smiles, laughter and hearts with the wonderful memories that all have shared with you :)<br />
<br />
Thursday was alright. We were kind of in a daze with everything that had gone on but through the grace of Heavenly Father and the comfort of the Holy Spirit we rallied ourselves together so that we would be able to accomplish the Lord's work for that day. Just had to take it one step at a time and trust that God will sort everything out. We went over to the H family's house once more and spent some time with them talking about how the Lord will comfort us in our trials and raise us to a higher view. See Mosiah 24:13-14, Alma 31:38, 36:3, 38:5 and Ether 12:6. We then were able to have the spirit touch each of our hearts and we knew that it was time to go. In the evening we had a great tea appointment and discussion of future hopes and dreams with the R family and we were able to determine that if we simply trust in God and His promises that everything will turn out the way that it is meant to be. God has a plan for each of us and we will find our place if we truly search and follow his will.<br />
<br />
Friday was finding all day in the cold .. enough said! It is pretty cold here being so close to the north sea and what is even crazier is that people go swimming an surfing in it. Anyways, lets just say it is very cold!<br />
<br />
Saturday was a very busy day and it was great to see the hand of the Lord in our travels because he simply led us catch all of the buses that we needed to be on time! I have grown to hate with a vengeance even the thought of being late ... Like I would rather be 15 minutes early to something rather than have everyone rubber-necking at you when you come in late. So that was a blessing that we caught every bus that we needed to. Then we went finding all day and that was pretty good. Did not have much success but we were able to learn to be determined and persevere even though we don't see the blessings yet. Yup learning loads here! Got to be soothing I'm eating I think lol.<br />
<br />
Sunday was a pretty good day. Testimony meeting was a time that we truly reflected upon what we have gained as a testimony and what God is giving us with each day of our lives. There were many people that talked about the plan of salvation and a few tears shed but I realized something ... I love these people here. They are truly wonderful and I am thankful that I can share this special time that I have to serve the Lord with them.<br />
<br />
Well I must run but before I do, know this ...<br />
I know God lives and loves us.<br />
I know that we have a wonderful Savior who knows everything that we go through and if we simply rely on him we can conquer anything in our path.<br />
I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.<br />
I know that the Priesthood is the power of God to bless his children.<br />
And I know that families can be together forever.<br />
<br />
I love you guys.<br />
Have a great week.<br />

So this week has been pretty great! I cannot believe how fast this time is going though! YIKES! hahahaha Lets just say that we are trying to make every moment count! Elder Dickson and I are really having fun together and enjoying to laugh at the world and the troubles that come before us.<br />
<br />
So Monday was a pretty good day. We seriously just had a good preparation day. We got all our groceries and all that and then we went home and relaxed. In the evening we had a good lesson in where I learned that the spirit is what truly teaches and that we much teach the children of God. That's pretty much the simplest format of what stood out to me on P-day.<br />
<br />
Tuesday was a great day full of revelation and full of the spirit! We had zone training meeting and we had the Assistants and President & Sister Pilkington come up to instruct, inspire and motivate us to do better and to be better. There were many things that stood out to me but one of my main thoughts were "All of its unsells UNTIL we apply it!" So when we go to be inspired and to grow, we must act and become what we desire! Even if its just a little step closer :) How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time :D<br />
<br />
Wednesday was great! Elder Dickson has been freezing lately in the weather here and we finally found him a great jacket! I'm so glad that he is warm now and that he is able to have a smile all the time! He is such a great guy and such a great man, I definitely look up to him. One of the most humble people that I know!<br />
<br />
Thursday was another great day full of painting! I love going to the Horton family's house and helping them out in any way that we can. There are so many wonderful members around this world and they all need the great help, even just a call or text message saying that someone cares! In the evening we had a delicious meal with another family in the ward and it was great to have a good laugh with them! Then Elder Dickson showed them his pictures and he seriously looks like Antonio Banderas in Zoro when he's got facial hair lol!<br />
<br />
Friday was alright. The highlight of that day was watching some great messages about the atonement of the Savior and his grace. - Here's a link to one of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAaa135NnAY<br />
<br />
Sorry for the short message but all in all it was a great week and I fell that I'm taking steps closer and necessary to become the refined man that God wants me to be.<br />
Have a great week all!<br />
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE …. LOVE YOU LITTLE SIS!<br />

<span style="font-family: "helvetica"; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica"; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">So this week was pretty interesting and let's just say that I learned a lot from what I talked with people about, the feelings that I had, the people that I met and the experiences that grew my testimony of the Savior. I know that it is always the darkest before the dawn and that if we simply trust in the Lord and his direction that he will bless us in abundance. I know that if we do the Lord's work and focus on others that all other matters that worry us and those feelings of fear will be washed away in the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The atonement is not only a redeeming power but an enabling power that makes miracles capable to be performed by the children of men and by the priesthood power of the Lord's servants.I know that if we are bold and simply proclaim truth and testify to those around us of the blessings of the Gospel that they will feel the spirit pierce their hearts and have courage and faith enough to act and follow our Savior and Master Jesus Christ. I love my mission right now and the truths that I am able to learn through my trials and tribulations. I thank God each day for how he teaches me and molds me into not simply becoming someone new but refining who I am so that I will one day become like him through the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ. </span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
So on Tuesday we had a wonderful preparation day full of laughter, relaxation, answers, revelation, reassurance and most of all the spirit. This past <span class="" id=":tu.1" tabindex="-1">Pday</span> we were allowed and blessed to spend some time with a member couple in the ward and they were loving towards us and took us to experience the culture and heritage of this wonderful country. I absolutely loved it! Since I served in <span class="" id=":tu.2" tabindex="-1">Sunderland</span> I had dreamed about traveling to <span class="" id=":tu.3" tabindex="-1">Bamborough </span>Castle! It was a fantastic journey that we had! It took a while to get there but we filled the time with heartfelt conversation and I must say that it truly helped me with a couple of questions and concerns that I had been having lately. We talked about how God will bless us with our sincere desires if we first simply desire the kingdom of God and to return to him. ( 3 <span class="" id=":tu.4" tabindex="-1">Nephi</span> 13 :33, Matthew 6:33) "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you" It was a great time of reflecting and realizing that the Lord has many great and wonderful things in store for each of us and all that he simply asks of us is to trust Him, do His will and work whilst we are here in this probationary state of our mortal existence and keep the commandments.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>

Wednesday was a pretty good day as well! Due to the great preparation day that we had we were ready and willing to work our hearts out on Wednesday. And that's what we did! <span class="" id=":tu.5" tabindex="-1">hahaha</span> We went finding and door knocking ALL DAY! I must say that it was fairly cold but we realized that time goes much quicker if you try to enjoy it rather than try to do it simply to get it done. Life is not a race, it is a marathon of a thousand journeys and we must enjoy every moment of it because it goes far too quickly! I have seen my mission speed up in these last few months and BOY! its going fast!!! So our first 30 minutes of knocking was drudgery but we had this epiphany and we started to talk about things that we enjoyed to do or memories of good times and hand on heart the next 45 minutes felt like 10! Crazy huh!? </div>

Thursday was the day that I learned the biggest lesson that stood out to me. Our missionary work was very busy and exciting that day and we were very blessed to be able to focus on other people rather than ourselves :) We have been working as everything is up to us and praying as if everything is up to the Lord! Because of the inward commitment that we have to the Lord that has been strengthened and become a greater resolve to do his work we were able to sacrifice some comforts for the greater good and for the benefit of others! I feel very fortunate to have an opportunity to do this work and I glory not in my sacrifices but I glory in the blessings that other people receive from our father in Heaven and I am grateful to simply be a tool in his hands to accomplish his work and his purposes. We worked pretty hard Thursday and ran from appointment to appointment to be able to see as many people as possible! We ended up needing a favor ( a ride to the next area over) from a member because we had become so busy! <span class="" id=":tu.6" tabindex="-1">hahaha</span> As we were traveling , we got lost.....Now I don't mean just a little turned around, WE GOT SO LOST!!! The member didn't even know where we were! <span class="" id=":tu.7" tabindex="-1">lol</span> I said a little prayer that "Lola" the GPS would work and guess what! 2 minutes later she stopped blabbering on about recalculating and whatever and she finally directed us to where we wanted to be. When we finally got to our destination we were given some news that could have shaken our world, especially mine but thankfully the members that we were going to visit are great friends to us and simply took care of us whilst I got my head together. They reassured me that everything would be okay and that all will work out for the benefit of the Lords servants (members included) and that I simply needed to trust in the Lord and his plan and get on my knees and talk with Him. I had been doing that lately more and feel the sincerity of my conversations with my father growing and I am grateful to have a testimony that he is always there and going to always be there for us, especially in times of confusion and turmoil. The members then made me laugh a lot with their funny stories and jokes and then we talked about their future sealing date and it made the whole situation that could have shaken me a lot better. They drove us home and it was great to be embraced in their arms and feel the love and care that a friend would have for another friend who is struggling. These people have definitely helped me out with understanding who I am, who I was and how I can become a more refined me! I love the Horton family. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
Friday was the day of miracles and testimony building experiences. In the morning I go some answers and direction from the Lord and his chosen servants on how to react to everything that happened in the 24 hours of Thursday. In it I was given the direction to work about the work of the Lord where I am at and God will take care of all the other things in my life and he will watch over, bless and take care of those whom I love so dearly. I was told that I need to trust Gods plans and even though I don't understand them now that He will reveal it to me through time and that I will gain experience understanding and learning from all the experiences, the good and the bad, that I have in this sacred time that I have to serve him. I know that this is not my 2 years, but the Lords 2 years and that if I serve him, even though I am an unprofitable servant and can never repay him for what he has done for me, that He will bless me and those people I love in abundance. So that's what I did! I gave all my troubles in my heart to the Lord and focused on His work and His children. Sometimes as humans in this mortal <span class="" id=":tu.97" tabindex="-1">existence</span> of ours we forget a few things and we focus on pointing in when our <span class="" id=":tu.102" tabindex="-1">supreme</span> exemplar Jesus Christ always pointed out! We sometimes forget that we are eternal beings and that we are Gods children. Just pause a moment and think what it means to be a Child of God to you......I will give you some time.....</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
To be a child of God is to be the <span class="" id=":tu.118" tabindex="-1">offspring</span> of one eternal supreme being who knows all, sees all, creates all and LOVES ALL! God loves each one of us, our faults and imperfections <span class="" id=":tu.129" tabindex="-1">included</span> and it is his supreme purpose to firstly have created us , but to also help us to become like him and have all that he has. He desires for us to return to him in glory and perfection and to be able to eternally progress in the futures to come. We learn this many times in the Holy Scriptures (Moses 1 :39) but we need to learn it for ourselves! We need to learn who we are and what potential we have and then we must give a place for hope and faith and mold our desires to become like our father! When we finally do this and draw close to him, he will then draw close to us and bless us infinitely!</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
So....That wasn't my immediate thought, I have pondered what to say for these past few days and that's what has come out. My immediate thoughts were, trust God and he will take care of you even though you cannot see the full picture. ( Ether 12 :6, Proverbs 3: 5-6, Isaiah 55: 8-9 , Doctrine and Covenants 6 : 33-37). I had a moment of reflection and then we went to work....That day was truly miraculous! We were blessed to see 3 of Heavenly Fathers children commit themselves to coming to him through the waters of baptism at the end of February! I know know much fuller in my mind and soul that God has a plan for us, will protect and bless us and that "It is always the darkest before the Dawn" </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
Saturday was another day of reflection and of growth. Due to the recent days events I had given my opportunities to pour myself into my scriptures in my personal study and was very grateful to see such gems that my father in heaven had in store for me at the exact time that I needed it. I know that God is there just as I know that I exist. I know he is there because there are too many things that I experience to blame on circumstance or chance. A wise friend of mine back home once told me that " There are no such things as coincidences, coincidence is merely a name that our Father in Heaven uses to stay anonymous when He wants to bless us ". The most exciting thing that we....<span class="" id=":tu.251" tabindex="-1">welll</span>...Elder Dickson might not have been as enthusiastic about it as I was but we went to the home of a part member family in the evening and we had a great time just chatting about normal things,, getting to know them and slipping in Little <span class="" id=":tu.266" tabindex="-1">snickets</span> of doctrine to the husband during the conversation. I won't say what the topic of conversation was but let's just say that it was super fun, funny and exhilarating to talk with someone of a similar mind set and theology to my own ideas of the unknown mysteries of this great world that God has given us. If you want to know what we discussed, email me <span class="" id=":tu.291" tabindex="-1">hahahhahahahhaha</span> <span class="" id=":tu.292" tabindex="-1">lol</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
Sunday was a day that I <span class="" id=":tu.294" tabindex="-1">wa</span> once again grateful to my mission president for his direction and guidance. The branch president came up and asked if we could bear our testimonies and for some reason out of the blue I suggested that I could give a talk on any subject that he needed.....Still have no clue where this confidence and the words that I spoke came from but the Lord. He then assigned me only a matter of minutes before the meeting to give a talk on member missionary work. The biggest things that I used as an idea was what our reaction is when we find something that we enjoy and when we find somethings that we know other people could enjoy. I used the analogy of the Peters drive in back home which is a great milkshake shop and I look forward to having one again! <span class="" id=":tu.346" tabindex="-1">hahahah</span> YUM! Anyways, I am thankful that the Lord blessed me enough to know what to say. I know He is there. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
Well I must run! </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
I hope that you all have a wonderful week full of learning and testimony building times as I have done. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
I love each of you</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; widows: 2;">
May god bless you and protect you this week!</div>

<br />
So we had a great week!<br />
<br />
Monday was our baking p-day with some great members here in Ashington! We made tacos, corned beef hash and CHEESECAKE!! It was delicious! Then we went and helped the member's daughter bring in her horses and I was holding the fence and I forgot that it was electric and ZAP! A current went right through me! hahahaha<br />
<br />
Tuesday we returned to that member's home to help them paint and that was great! Busy and dirty but great. Then we got a call from a random member that we didn't know saying that they were a member and wanted to meet us so we were freaked out a bit but we finally found out that everything is all good.<br />
<br />
Wednesday was a very spiritually filled day of administering to the sick and afflicted. I feel so privileged to bear the priesthood of God and to bless the lives of his children. The mormon message Sanctify Yourselves came to mind during much of the day. Here is the link to refresh your memory of what it talks about:<br />
<br />
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hew-QARTo00<br />
<br />
Thursday we knocked all day in the cold and the wind and even though we didn't teach anyone new people learned perseverance will bring unseen blessings.<br />
<br />
Friday was a great day full of good advice. The main thing that I took from that day was stay close to the Lord and he will stay close to you. Blessing you more than you can even comprehend!<br />
<br />
Saturday was Peter's baptism!!!! It was great to see another one of God's children and my friend take the step to returning to Him. I am so grateful to have been able to see this wonderful and devoted man take the big step towards his father in Heaven.<br />
<br />
Sunday was a normal Sunday with more rain lol<br />
<br />
So that's my week, sorry for the scarcity of words and explanations. I will put more the coming week because we had a great p-day today but you will just have to wait to find out what we did<br />
<br />
Love<br />

Well this email is going to be short but is going to be meaningful.<br />
I love my family. I love the Lord and I love my mission.<br />
<br />
I am so grateful to the Lord at this point in my life for all of the experiences that have brought me here to become the man that I am today and the son of God that I am today. I thank him everyday for the trials and blessings in my life and for the people who have touched my heart so dearly whilst I was home and while I have been out here serving his children.<br />
<br />
This past Monday was a wonderful time for me to see you all and be able to have some great laughs together and it has made me appreciate even more fully the blessings of the Gospel and the FACT that families can be together forever.<br />
<br />
I have been studying the atonement a lot lately and have realized once again how indebted I am to my saviour for what he has done for me and I am also amazed at home much he truly loves each one of us. I know that he knows us individually and all that he requires and asks us of in response to His love is to love Him.<br />
<br />
I love my Saviour and my elder brother Jesus Christ and all that he has offered to me and my family and I thank Him daily for it.<br />
<br />
Thank you all for your care, your love and your support over this wonderful season of peace and goodwill on earth. Both my companion and I have appreciated feeling loved and cared for as we went out to serve God and His children.<br />
<br />
On Wednesday we had a wonderful experience of being able to help a brother who was ill at the time with a priesthood blessing. I am grateful for the spirit and all that it directs us to do and how it helps us in this sacred work that I feel so privileged to be a part of. I know that God lives and has given his spirit to us to help us appreciate a personal connection that we can have with him.<br />
<br />
New Years day made me appreciate rest and reminiscing upon the wonderful year that has now passed by. I know that because of the people that I have met, the trials that I have been through and reminiscing upon the wonderful year that has now by. I know that because of the people that I have met, the trials that I have been through and the blessings of God that are abundant in my life that I have become more determined to serve him to the end of my days. I love my Father in Heaven and I know that he loves all the children in existence.<br />
<br />
Saturday was a wonderful day because we were blessed to have P pass his baptismal interview. I feel so privileged at this point in time to not only help Peter to come to Christ but to help myself and my companion come to Christ more. The beauty of the Gospel is that its for everyone and anyone who desires "pure joy" and happiness that comes from following Christ.<br />
<br />
I thank you all for your support this past year gone and pray that God will bless you and your families in abundance this coming year!<br />
Love you all!<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Not going to lie, I am all emailed out! LOL and tired out! LOL Doing good though! Actually I'm doing REALLY good! haha I have had a great Christmas season and past little while of work and fun on my mission! I feel so blessed to have made so many great memories in the past week and feel the love of those people that I know that care about me and have helped me so much in the past and support me now!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So this past Monday was pretty good! It was a shortened P-day because we get so much time off from proselyting in the next two week period between Christmas and New Years. With the time that we had we were able to get me a hair cut and get our gifts for our secret santa within the district that happened on Wednesday! I was looking forward to Wednesday so much! It was a great time to have so much fun giving other people the joy of Christmas! After that we made time to go and work with the people that we keep seeing lately! That night we had a miracle! We simply asked our investigator Peter who is getting baptized on the 10th of January if there was anyone that he knew that would need this message and the help of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Then he listed off nine people that he thought would be willing and open to listening to the message! Most referrals in one day that I have received on my mission! I will keep you posted with the progress that these people make!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So Tuesday was a great time to be able to go and work and be able to spend the day serving the Lord and looking for His children that he has a desire to return to him and to know how to return to Him. Then in the evening we had a good time with a member just having a great tea with them. She made a drink that is non-alcoholic called Ginger Wine! It was sooooooo delicious and had a fire that burned your throat. It was great. Warmed me right up!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Wednesday was the day that I was looking forward to the past little bit! In DDM we had the gift exchange and I made an oreo chocolate cake and if I can say so myself it was so delicious! So fro the DDM we were blessed to have the spirit there and be able to enjoy the Christmas spirit of giving and laughter. After DDM we were able to go over to the B's house and give them a Christmas present with some other members an then we were able to feel relaxed when we finally made it home because we went right to sleep (I told Elder D that if we go to sleep sooner that Santa would come quicker lol)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Thursday was a wonderful Christmas Day full of joy, laughter and smiles. Thank you to all those who have sent me and my companion something. It truly made both of our Christmas full of joy and smiles. I loved the candy, socks and many other unique and wonderful gifts that I have received. THANK YOU! After that we were blessed to spend more time with another family within the ward. This lovely couple has adopted most of the missionaries that enter within their doors and it was great to have them take care of us just as they would their own sons. So they fed us a great meal of Christmas and it was so delicious. Then after that we were sent to another family's home and were blessed to spend so much time with them. They were great to us and the night was full of laughter and great memories! Now overall I don't know what it is but the members might think that we stink because we got so much smelling things (Axe body spray etc) It was great and we truly appreciate it :)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So Boxing Day was really great because we were able to go and experience it in England but there was seriously not a soul in sight so that was nice to go and enjoy the sales pretty much by ourselves. Then we were picked up by some members (because the busses were shut down) and we played games and laughed at their house all day! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Saturday and Sunday were good and we were impressed to go and spend some quality time with the less actives in the area. It was just a blur of a weekend but I truly enjoyed it!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyways, time has run out but I'll talk to you next week!</div>
<div>
Love you all</div>
<div>
Sincerely,</div>
<div>

<br />
Hope you are all having a great time during these wonderful CHRISTMAS holidays! I know that the people that I am around everyday are enjoying it but we are trying to help them enjoy it for the right reasons and to remember the spirit of Christmas. Its all fine with the gifts and tinsel and carols and stuff but whats the point unless we strengthen our faith and the faith of others in our Savior Jesus Christ. To me Christmas time is not about the gifts but more of service and making the world a better place because you were there. Its about spending time with those things that matter most, family especially! And thats the message that we bear on our hearts daily and testify of those around us that are seeking for the truth and to all nations, tongues and kindred around! So thats my testimony of Christmas to EVERYONE!<br />
<br />
So this past week was really good! I truly enjoyed every minute of it and all the great people that I was able to associate with this past week! On Monday we went to Newcastle to meet with other missionaries to practice the song "Homeless" by Michael McLean from his Christmas CD the Forgotten Carols. But alas my hopes were slightly dashed because people were unable to make it to practice so was had to call an audible and changed the song at the last minute. We ended up deciding to sing "O Come All Ye Faithful" in parts. It was really good (if I can say so myself).<br />
<br />
Tuesday was the Christmas party full of laughter and fun! We started traveling EARLY and then we ended up making it there just before it started. I have realized how in the sticks we are! its pretty funny! So at the party we played silly fun games and I learned how to throw a card into a melon properly. Then we had our taken show. It was really good. It takes a lot for people to get up in front of a group of their peers and show off what God has given them. Its even more so when they do it solo. Well done to all those who participated.<br />
<br />
Then we watched a great British Christmas comedy called the Nativity. I think the main character is also the main character playing in the Hobbit series (the posters came out this past week and it looks sweet. Marathon in a few months ... yes!)<br />
<br />
Wednesday we had a great meeting in Newcastle about setting goals, giving all of our efforts and then achieving them! The biggest thing that stood out to me was the quote I came up with ... "Challenges and trials are put into ur lives to push us to our absolute limits. Its at the edge of comfort and fear that faith must come into our lives. We must jump off the cliff and then and only then is when we learn to fly. If we merely stay in the nest and give up, that is when our trial seat us down and they will keep us there if we let them. We must be harder and fight as lions during life to succeed! Challenges are only impossible if you give up, and if you give up, you will Never grow, profess and be better!"<br />
<br />
Thursday was a day full of service with a great couple of people that are in the ward. We were scraping off wall paper all day and had so much fun coin git and enjoying some Christmas music. For lunch the sisters made us some really good fajitas.<br />
<br />
Friday was crazy! So much so that it passed in a flash and all that I can remember is going to this members home and watching Joy to the World with her. It was great to be able to bring the Christmas spirit into her home and into her life. She loves Christmas because she gets to spend time with her family and I don't blame her! Once again, I restate that Christmas is ALL ABOUT FAMILY AND CHRIST! Let us not forget the CHRIST in Christmas.<br />
<br />
Saturday was pretty busy too! We travelled a long time to get to Sunderland to watch the Christmas truce program that has been put on! Its a wonderful reminder for those who have sacrificed and those who still sacrifice. My heart goes to those courageous men and women who have fought for the wonderful freedoms that we enjoy now. Please, this Christmas season, stop and think of the things to be grateful for and if you know someone that has served in any aspect of any wars, thank them because without their or their family's sacrifice you nor I would be here today to be able to enjoy what we have and do.<br />
<br />
Well, I hope and pray that you all have a wonderful Christmas season full of joy, peace, laughter and full of the love of our Savior Jesus Christ.<br />
<br />
Sincerely,<br />
Elder Zachary Lee Dotschkat<br />
